Asthma

Today Pride got diagnosed with Asthma, in fact when I went out to play with him we played for a few minutes then he stared breathing weird. So I stopped, which I am sooo glad I did!!! I came in and had mom call the vet. Jeff called and explained what it was, that he has seen alot of it in the past few weeks. My other horses could get Asthma too, I just need to do the following:

For Pride who already has Asthma:
*Wet down hay
*Absolutely NO moldy or dusty hay
*Try to keep him where there is as little dust as possible, preferably the pasture (he'll love that!!)
*If its really dusty I need to wet the corral if I can't turn him out into the pasture
If I do all that, he should be better even by the morning! And if everythings good all it will disapear in a couple days, I just have to keep preventing it.
To Prevent It For My Other Team Members:
*Keep away from dust, preferably out in the pasture
*Wet corral down if I can't turn them out into pasture
*No moldy or dusty hay

If all comes to worse we'll have to put Pride on meds, I'm praying it will go away in a couple days. I don't know why I'm so emotional about this, but I am. It's just I thought my baby was fine and well.... he's not. I just need to suck it up, he will be fine! Even if we have to put him on meds, I would pay for them myself with my savings -the money I am going to use to become a Parelli Professional.
Wish me luck! It'll be hard work for me to stay on top of this, but winter is coming so I don't have to worry too much....
Being Positive!! :)

  1. Kaylee, I'm sorry to hear Pride is not feeling well. If he doesn't get better, you might want to consider using holistic alternatives....
    Best of luck!
