Priniciples #1

I've just watched The Horseman Apprentice Episode 13. Some comments Pat said really hit home to me and, more for myself than others, I decided to wright them down and document them... you never know when you might need a little smack of reality later on.
"Measure agaisn't reality. You've got to measure your skills."
How good are you? Do you know? If you don't, why are you letting other people tell you what your good and not good at. Why are you letting other people pick your life out for you? Right down all your cons, everything that you know you're awsome at and hang it up in your home... after all its your life.
"You make your own luck by going out of your way to shake hands with oppurtunity."
So many people wait for oppurtunity to come up and slap them in the face, they miss it. Oppurtunity is just that. There is no guarantee that it will come again, and for all you know this is a once in a life time deal. When oppuntunity greets you you've got to open up your door and let it in, no matter what. I mean, that is, if you want to become a great horseman (or anything for that matter).
"1)Principles  2) Ambitions  3) Patients; Learn the sequence of how to become a horseman. So many people have ambitions without the principles. They get obedience, but not exuberance."
Horse owners all ways have ambitions, that is what got them in the horse business. That is what will keep them in or take them out of the horse business. They have ambitions and well....that's it. To make ends meet, you have to have basic principles; rules that need to be followed. Ambitions come second. Patients come third.
"Becoming something special, so we can do something special."
I don't think there is any need for me to expound on this quote...you've got the point.

  1. Kaylee, thank you for writing this down! You are lucky to know all those things and take advantage of them at a young age. It took me a lot longer... :-)
