Circling Day

So today was our Circling Game Day and Pride needed it. He's getting a little on the chubby side. We did lots and lots of transitions, trying to get Pride to engage his hind quarters. It worked, and by the end his head was down and his back came up. Tomorrow we're going to do our Yo-Yo Day, Pride's draw isn't very good...
My fingers are still freezing :), I played with Pride for 1 1/2 hours. Amazing how time fly's when your doing something you love. Pride was great! He asked alot of questions.
One thing that I noticed at the beginning, he would brake gait at the lope about the 2nd time he went around (20' Line) so I started playing with this. I made a game of "Don't make me get off my pedestal" so I'd just stand their untill he broke gait, then I would fly off my pedestal and smack the ground 3 times before going back to my pedestal and standing quietly. It worked. Pride finally would lope around about 4 times before I could tell he really wanted to brake gait and trot, but he didn't, so I asked him to walk. I know my boy wasn't being disobeying, and at times when I asked him to change direction at a walk he would change direction then fly up into a canter, giving me way more than I asked for. Great!!! Pride broke gait consistently at the lope because his body is interfereing, if you go back into my archives I have pictures of his back. It's plainly weak, from 3 years of mis-fitting saddles and a bad rider (me before I found Parelli). Poor guy.

It's been reaaallly cold here and dark, not the weather for taking pictures, but as soon as the sun shines I'll take lots and some videos :)

Keep it Natural,
