~Pride~

Pride has been in the best of health, he's all shaggy for winter, and we are have been having great sessions. I've rented some of Pat's and Walter Zettl's videos and I should recieve them Wednesday so I'm really excited.
Some of the tasks Pride and I have been playing with are
*Stick your tongue out (prep for grabbing it)
*Simple lead changes
*Sidepass towards from a distance
*Sidepassing away 20' without me having to 'Move my feet'.
*Undemanding Time
*Slow Loping (or doing yo-yo's from walk to lope to halt and repeated)

One of the things that really puzzle me is having an effective phase 4... I mean what exactly is an 'affective phase 4'?
Hmmm...

Keep it natural,

  1. You suggest (phase 1), ask (phase2), tell (phase 3), promise... Phase 4 is a promise to your horse that you will follow thru with your request. If you do not follow thru you are essentially lying to your horse... Yes, I suggested, I asked... but I really didn't mean it. This will cause a LB horse to question your leadership and your RB horse will loose trust and confidence because he can't rely on what you are asking him to do...

Being effective will depend on your horse... My phase 4 with my RBI is a lot softer (with a much longer, LONG phase 1) than for my LBE for example...
    Makes sense?
