Anyway, here's a much needed update on Pride. Today we had one of the best play sessions this year, it was a totall blast! Pride loved it, and I loved it. I was positive 99% of the time, the 1% negative kind of krept in my mind when Pride was having a hard time doing the figure eight pattern. I feel bad because when he went to go around the barrel, I kind of jumped at him, and being the good boy he is he responded perfectly, but I had a little too much energy and sent him right on top of the barrel. Pride skinned his knee, I put some salve on it so I hope it soothes it, it wasn't very big, but it shouldn't have happened. Since I was so positive I could see it reflecting on Pride, his ears were focused on me. He asked me so many questions!!! I feel we really achieved something today!
Well, I started the session with two 20' lines on both sides of him and drove him forward from Zone 5, into the round corral. Once inside I groomed him, then I loosened his halter and drove him backwards with the Yo-Yo game untill it fell off. After I did the seven games, all of them Phase 1 or at the most Phase 2!!! Most of the time him asking me questions. Then after all of that we just played with the pedastal (Pride LOVES it, whenever he see's the pedestal he heads straight for it) and doing figure-8's. I'm really proud of my boy, he's coming along really well. I'm teaching Pride to stick his tongue out for me, because last time (in June) I reached in their to grab it I almost lost a finger. Yah it hurt VERY bad, Pride didn't mean too, I'm sure I would have done the same thing if someone stuck their finger in my mouth. It wasn't very savvy of me to do that :), lesson learned! Anyway I told my parents it was a wire cut, I was too embarrassed to say that I purposely stuck my finger in Prides mouth and got bit. :) So ssshhhh, its just between you and me! Well anyway it just cracks me up when I ask him to stick his tongue out, because he sticks it waaayyyy out, I mean stretches it as far as it will go! I'll take a picture of it tonight. Well anyway today I was asking him to do that and he bit one of my earphones. I always listen to music when I'm playing with him, it helps me be more positive and keep rythm, so I always just put one earphone in so I can hear what he's doing like when he's circling I can hear when he starts to shuffle, and etc. anyway he bit the one that was hanging down the front of my shirt. I pryed it out of his front teeth and laughed so hard, then about 4 minutes later after playing with the yo-yo game I had him come to me and I was petting his forhead when he bit it a second time! He crunched the little headphone, but I managed to pry it out before he could eat it. It still works though so I have it all taped up :). No thanks to Pride. :) He just never seems to stop making me laugh, I love my baby so much!
Anyway, I had to put his halter and one 20' line back on him to help him do the figure-8's. He was trying to do what I asked but didn't quite remember, or didn't understand. Just like Pat and Linda say:
"If your horse says no then you either asked your question wrong or asked the wrong question."
Well Pride's been living in his fly mask all summer, I don't buy the fly masks that don't block out UV Rays, I mean seriously, you might as well spend 5 bucks more (at the most) on the UV Rays blocker fly masks and save your horses eyes. I keep fly spray on him 24-7 also, well atleast untill I don't see ANY more fly's this winter. Today is a beautiful day, its probably 60 degree's outside, but there's not a cloud in the sky. It's just beautiful, anyway I'll go get pics of Pride with his goofy fly mask. It makes him look like a mule, it's just so adorable!!! I'll post them tonight.
Well my blog is changing alot, I'm trying to figure out how I like it and I'm open to suggestions. I don't like the green color on here, it's so bright its hard to read. I'm trying to figure out how to change it so don't worry ;).
Well I'll try to type up an update on Legacy's Pride tonight.
Keep it natural,
Kaylee
