I was thinking, what is impressive? How do we become impressive? How do we become an extraordinary person?
Dictionary definition: : making or tending to make a marked impression : having the power to excite attention, awe, or admiration
So many people think they have found what impressive is. Getting a 4.0 GPA average, achieving as many awards as possible, although those are certainly impressive it doesn't make you impressive as an individual. Anyone can do those things if they set their mind to it.
Not one human on this earth is the exact same as another, although they can have the same interests, not one of us think exactly the same. We are individuals, we have different natural talents, different interests. This is the key to being impressive. By being out of the 'flow of things', you don't have to get amazing grades to be amazing, you don't have to be the President of a club, you don't have to be on the varsity team to be impressive. By stepping out of the 'normal' way of things, you make yourself stand out, you draw attention that your that person who is just different than the rest. The person who is not afraid to be different. Impressiveness isn't the ability to do as more things than everyone thought possible, its the ability to be yourself. To literally be one in billions, to show people there is no one else like you. Don't get me wrong, achieving all of the above is great, its just not required. While its desirable to get an average 4.0 as your GPA, it comes with stress that seems to eat up your time and joy. Impressive means being yourself. Be the person you want to, the person people would say "is out of wack."
I'm totally "out of wack" and I personally think its the best place to be :).

Be yourself.....everyone else is taken
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right! People usually see someone they like and want to be them, it’s alright to strive to have certain qualities, but they push it past that point. It's alright to be yourself, that's who most people fall in love with. Thank you for the comment; I love how to state that!
