Check out the article ^ tons of helpful tips for the show! :)
Outcome Goals-
*Mackey open horse show, Reining -- won using two hands (on a solid bit), but I took my time and got Pride to frame up and do everything right. Everyone else got DQ'd because they performed horribly by rushing things.
*Arco open horse show, Western Equitation -- Won by getting my correct leads.
Performance Goals -
*Achieved a moderatly fast spin, while keeping his hind foot planted.
*Got a 3' slide stop!!!
*Keeping his head centered and down.
Mental Skills (things I did to prepare myself for the horse show) --
*Visualize more.
*In the warm up ring, I told myself that the only thing that mattered was me and him, I did not focus on any of the other horses.
*After every class, I made the conclusion that when we come out of the ring, Pride will be better than when we went in.
*I talked to him the night before and before an important class and asked him for his very best.
Copy and Lessons Learned -
*After a class, when we were in the line up waiting to be placed, he would stretch his head and jaw from me pulling on it so hard to slow him down during it.
