Horse Show's

June 4th- Arco Horse Show
June 18th- Challis Horse Show
August 1st- Mackey Horse Show
August 3rd- Custer County 4-H Horse Show
August 27th (I think?) - Salmon Horse Show

Those are all the shows I'm attending this summer with Pride. This past month we've really been working hard on reining, the horse show here (Challis Horse Show) is the first show I'll enter Pride and I in FreeStyle reining. I know with alot of effort and time we'll be ready by the 18th. Here are the classes I've found the horses to excell in the most.

Davey:
Halter
Western Pleasure (I have a hunch this will be what she excells at when I am able to ride her)

Strider:
Halter
Walk-Trot horse

Aspen:
Poles
Barrels
Reining
Western Equitation
Halter

Pride (pretty much my all-round horse):
Poles
Barrels
Reining
Western Equitation
Bareback Equitation
Trail

Nickers:
Western Pleasure
Reining
Western Equitation
Bareback Equitation
Poles
2-3-4 year olds western Pleasure

I will probably only show Pride in 5-6 classes, and I will only show one other horse in 2 classes at the most. My first horse show, Arco Horse Show, I will sign Pride and I up for Bareback Equitation, Western Equitation, Trail, Poles, and Barrels. And I'll probably take Nickers for 2-3-4 year olds Western Pleasure. I'll have to decide what other horse I'll take with me.

What I still need to do with Pride before June 4th:
1) Lead Changes... I can practice poles while teaching lead changes. Start with poles twice as far apart as normal, and work on bending around at trot and coming of my leg. Work up to a lope and do simple lead changes between poles. After we're able to lope around poles, put poles by 1 foot at a time back to normal place. WALLA! Lead changes and a practiced Pole Pattern! :)
2) Sliding Halt... Keep working on disengaging hind quarters.
3) Faster Roll Backs... Keep doing what I'm doing.
4) Put M&T in Prides mane every night. Groom daily.
5) Neck Reining at every gate without tossing his head up or ignoring.

I have a huge list of stuff for all the other horses, but untill I decide which horse I'll take with me and Pride, I won't bother listing on here. I have finally found a horse show buddy!!! We have a large enough trailer to accommodate at least 2 more horses, so we'll haul her horse for her. She isn't that great of rider, and she has a normal ringy ranch horse, but she'll still be a blast to have along. It is always funner when there's someone to ride with. She just moved here from Boise and doens't even know the Barrel racing pattern, :) she wants me to show her the ins' and outs' to Horse Shows. It will be funny watching her compete for the first time, she'll be in the intermediate group with me. I do not think she'll win any ribbons, and might even get disqualified, but I'm sure she'll still have fun.
I'm so glad I do Parelli! I rode with her yesterday at the rodeo grounds and met her horse for the first time, he's a tiny, sway backed paint, that won't lope when she asks and rolls his eyes like a crazy horse :). She holds the reins so tight his head is pulled to his chest, that is something we'll have to work on. Her dad was amazed because I was riding Pride bareback with the reins drooped, Pride did everything I asked quickly, positively and enthusiasticly (if you ask me I think he knew that Juliannes dad was checking him out :). We did roll backs, loping straight lines and working on our sliding stops and everything. Then after I got 2 great sliding halts out of him we went over and tipped all the barrels over. He pawed at them and rolled them all over while I was sitting on him. I can still have my horse do amazing things without him loosing his awsome horsenality. I think I really made an impression on Julianne and her dad, I could ask my horse to do high class maneuvors (without him responding with opposition) and have him do it willingly, and then still keeping it fun and relaxing. Haha, I think Pride caught their eye. I heard Juliannes dad talking to mine about where we got him. :) There's only one of Pride, and I can only thank God that I have him! What an amazing horse :)! We've already achieved SO much, but we still have a very, very promising future. I would give up all the horse shows in the world for my horses happiness, if Pride doens't want to show and go around and around in a dusty ring for a whole day then that is fine with me. I will only do what I know he will let me :).
More to come!
Have a great night,
